Faris Basharahil - SYA Founding President - Graduated in 2005
During Faris’ Siglap journey, he persevered to be the pioneer Chairman
of the Sports Leaders and Vice-President of the Student Council. Initiative
was his most respected value. Through organizing student-student leadership
trainings and discussion forums Faris believed strongly in character development of youths.
This passion boosted his motivation to serve the community and is presently an avid volunteer.
He started his community journey through MCYS Feedback Unit where he provided suggestions on how the government may attract feedback from youths. Soon after, he became a Grassroot Leader. However
when asked which is his favourite community experience, Faris humbly shared, “As a Young Change
Maker at the National Youth Council, it brings absolute joy being a grant-maker who assess proposals of
community events while being in a room of exemplary leaders from diverse backgrounds. The exposure
makes serving the community worthwhile. There is never a demotivating reason.”
Recently, Faris Basharahil had been selected as a participant of the National Youth Forum where he
will undergo training on Public Policy making.
He is currently a Hospitality and Tourism Management student in Temasek Polytechnic.
